Maureen FitzSimons' early achievements in the performing arts (now called Maureen O'Hara), would put her at least in the eyes of America, into the class of child prodigies. For a child of Irish background, surrounded by talented parents and a loving family, those were not innate traits. Maureen made her entrance into the sanctity of family on August 17, 1920, at Ranelagh (a suburb of Dublin), Ireland. The mother of Maureen, Marguerita Lililburn FitzSimons an accomplished contralto. His father, Charles FitzSimons, managed the business of Dublin and also owned part of the renowned Irish football team "The Shamrock Rovers." Maureen FitzSimons was the child of Charles FitzSimons. Peggy, Florrie Charles B. Fitzsimons Margot Fitzsimons made up this beautiful family. Maureen was a star athlete and loved rough games. This passion was combined with an equally natural aptitude for performing. She won almost all Feis Award for Theatre and Drama the country could provide. At the age of 14, she was admitted into the world-renowned Abbey Theater and pursued her dream of classical theater and operatic singing.
